The World As I Know It

So, I guess for a person my age I´ve been to a lot of places but then when I look at this map I realize its nothing compared to what Im missing. According to this website I've only visited 5% of the world. Im not as naive as to think i will be able to travel EVERYWHERE but I hope before I die I can say I have visited all continents. In the meanwhile my short time goal is to go to either Africa or Asia before I'm 30. That gives me 10 years to work hard and get on a plane. But then I also want soo bad to backpack through South America that I might do that instead. Who knows, I just think that I should travel as much as I can while Im young, then work hard and then travel again when I retire. Nice dreams...who knows what life has planned for me.

Sounds to me like you are very much similar to so many persons your age. Not to worry! At least your brain is working at optimum speed. I would say your aspirations are not out of line at all. You just need to set some realistic goals and then go to work on them. Of course, the main problem (as most of us have) is money. Where do you get the funds to realize your dreams. Well, for one, why not seek employment that also included travel to other continents? That's what journalism or photography can do for you. With your education, many doors will open that would not be available for those who didn't take the effort to achieve higher learning. There is a whole world out there to explore so just put your mind on how to do it. As I look back, I can see all the numerous opertunities I passed in lieu of getting married, having a family, etc. Not that I'm complaining mind you, just reflecting. My main goal these days is to try and maybe pass on to the younger crowd some of my experiences and mistakes I made, in hopes they might not make the same. I spent two weeks in Costa Rica back in 1980 and it was a paradise then. The folks I worked with thought I was crazy, and some of my experiences were a bit scary. But, it was worth the effort and I still cherish the memories. Best of luck to you and I have no doubt you will make your dreams come true eventually. It just takes hard work and paying your dues.
